The joyful spirit of the United States Virgin Islands will surface once again as St. John commemorates its 47th annual Festival
celebration, June 2 - July 4, 2001. "Heritage, Culture and Fun for Festival 2001" highlights the exciting activities, delicious food and beautiful pageantry found in the rich Caribbean heritage of
St. John. Sponsored by the St. John Cultural & Festival Organization, this year's celebration will begin with a spirited "Pan-O-Rama" concert in Cruz Bay Park on Saturday, June 2.
The activities during this fabulous month-long celebration include: a morning bike race at the V.I. National Park; a calypso show at Winston Wells Ball Park in Cruz Bay; the annual crowning of Miss
St. John; a mouth-watering food fair in Cruz Bay Park; and the ever-popular "Jouvert" procession. The Festival Village will open on June 29, and will continue until the festivities come to an

The 29th Annual USVI Open/Atlantic Blue Marlin Tournament, scheduled for July 31 -
Aug. 5, will have anglers of all skill levels casting their reels for a chance at the top cash prize of $10,000. The activities begin on July 31, with a Kick Off Party and Calcutta held
at Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Club and Resort from 6:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Official fishing competitions will be held Tuesday, Aug. 1 - Sunday Aug. 5, and will have
competitors actively trolling the waters for a marlin with a minimum weight of 400 pounds. Saturday is the only day that fishermen take off and is marked by the traditional
